Primate Center Services

Genetics Services offers a variety of macaque MHC genotyping tools. High-resolution pyrosequencing assays for rhesus, cynomolgus, and pig-tailed macaques constitute the bulk of our requests. Microsatellite (STR) analyses with a panel of markers spanning the MHC are also used for high-resolution haplotyping of Mauritian-origin cynomolgus macaques

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much do you charge for MHC genotyping? The cost varies depending on the type of genotyping assay used, the number of samples analyzed, and the animals' geographic origin. Please see the White Paper attached to the Genetics Services homepage or contact Genetics Services for a detailed price estimate.
  • What types of samples to I need to provide for MHC genotyping? The sample requirements vary by assay, but MHC genotping assays can generally be performed with cryopreserved PBMC or fresh blood samples collected in 2ml EDTA tubes and shipped overnight with cold pacs.
