Bitten by a radioactive bookworm, Ray Hamel has acquired trivial powers beyond those of mortal men. Disguised as a mild-mannered library director, he fights a never-ending battle for truth in trivia questions, justice for trivia players and the trivial way!

Over the past 31 years, I have written trivia quizzes for a variety of live shows, publications, and web sites. From 1996-2001, I served as the trivia master for the New York Times Trivia Quiz. An archive of quizzes covering a wide range of subject matter is still available on the New York Times site. I also post my Question of the Day Monday through Friday to a mailing list of almost 300 players.

My most recent crossword puzzle book is "Encyclopaedia Britannica Crosswords." I have had more than 2,000 other crossword puzzles appear in such publications as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Games Magazine, Brain Games, Washington Post, Newsday, Simon and Schuster Crossword Puzzle Books, and Dell Champion Crosswords. I also write many of the word puzzles for the 7 Little Words word game app.

You can find a selected list of my publications listed on my writing resume. You can also read more about me in this Isthmus article.
